Tell Me The Time In Chinese?

To recap from counting in Chinese yī, èr, sān, sì, wǔ, ect… We will now be telling the time in Chinese. First diǎn in Chinese is a measure word (e.g. a cup of tea, cup is the measure word) therefore you can never say two – èr before a measure word.

1:00 – yī diǎn

2:00 – liǎng diǎn

3:00 – sān diǎn

4:00 – sì diǎn

5:00 – wǔ diǎn

6:00 – liù diǎn

7:00 – qī diǎn

8:00 – bā diǎn

9:00 – jiǔ diǎn

10:00 – shí diǎn

11:00 – shíyī diǎn

12:00 – shí’èr diǎn

Qǐngwèn, xiànzài jǐ diǎn? (Excuse me, what time is it now?)

Xiànzài … diǎn. (It’s … o’clock.)
